Turkish president lands in China to attend SCO summit
President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Tianjin, China, on Sunday to take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
President Erdoğan was welcomed at Tianjin International Airport by China’s State Councilor Lei Haichao, Turkish Ambassador to Beijing Selçuk Ünal, and staff of the Turkish Embassy.
The president will hold bilateral talks with other leaders participating in the summit, including Chinese President Xi Jinping.
The SCO summit, hosted in Tianjin, brings together leaders from member states (e.g., China, Russia, India, Pakistan) and dialogue partners like Türkiye. Erdoğan is expected to engage in bilateral talks, notably with Chinese President Xi Jinping, to discuss trade, regional security, and Türkiye’s potential role in the SCO.
