PM: Armenia committed to rapid implementation of agreements with Azerbaijan
Armenia is fully committed to the agreements reached with Azerbaijan in the United States and is determined to implement them swiftly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said.
Speaking at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Plus (SCO) summit in Tianjin, China, Pashinyan reaffirmed Armenia’s dedication to the accords, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
He emphasised the broader benefits of the agreements, stating, “I wish to confirm the Republic of Armenia’s commitment to the agreements reached, and we are determined to implement them in the shortest possible timeframe.”
He added, “This will not only restore connectivity between Armenia and Azerbaijan on domestic, bilateral, and international levels, but will also create new logistical opportunities for all member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, including our neighbours and Azerbaijan’s immediate neighbours.”
The peace agreement was concluded at a landmark summit hosted by U.S. President Donald J. Trump on August 8, 2025, attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The leaders endorsed a joint declaration setting out a seven-point framework for peace, highlighting respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the rejection of force.
The foreign ministers of both countries initialled a draft “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia,” in the presence of Trump, Aliyev, and Pashinyan.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the deal as a “historic” stride towards enduring peace.
