Fire breaks out at Russia's Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery after drone attack PHOTO
A fire broke out at the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery in Russia’s Samara Region following an overnight drone attack, according to an OSINT analysis by ASTRA.
The regional authorities declared a drone alert on the night of August 22. Local residents reported hearing air defence systems operating and seeing plumes of smoke.
An ASTRA OSINT analyst, examining eyewitness footage published by the monitoring channel Exilenova+, identified the site of the fire as the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery.
The refinery is operated by JSC Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery, part of Russian oil producer Rosneft.
The facility has previously been targeted in drone attacks. Following a Ukrainian strike on April 18, both of the refinery’s primary crude oil processing units, AVT-11 and AVT-9, were shut down, according to sources cited by Reuters.
