Russian forces shoot down dozens of Ukrainian drones launched over past night
Russian air defence units have destroyed 23 drones launched by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the night of August 18 to 19.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence's press service, 13 of the drones were intercepted over the Volgograd region, while five each were shot down over Crimea and the Rostov region, per Caliber.Az.
The Ministry emphasised that the actions were carried out by duty air defence systems tasked with protecting Russian territory.
In a previous such incident, Russia reported intercepting and destroying 23 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones on the night of August 17 to 18.
The drones were said to be downed over multiple regions of Russia and surrounding waters. Eight UAVs were intercepted over the Tambov region, while five were reportedly shot down over the Sea of Azov and two over the Black Sea.
The Ministry also stated that two drones were intercepted over the Belgorod Region and another two over the Rostov Region. Additional UAVs were reportedly destroyed over the Kursk, Voronezh, and Krasnodar regions, as well as over Crimea, with one drone each in those areas.
