Russian air defence intercepts 23 Ukrainian drones overnight
Russia’s Ministry of Defence reported that the country’s air defence forces intercepted and destroyed 23 Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during the night between 8:00 p.m. on August 17 and 6:00 a.m. on August 18, Moscow time.
According to the ministry’s statement, the drones were downed over multiple regions of Russia and surrounding waters. Eight UAVs were intercepted over the Tambov region, while five were reportedly shot down over the Sea of Azov and two over the Black Sea, Caliber.Az reports.
The Ministry also stated that two drones were intercepted over the Belgorod Region and another two over the Rostov Region. Additional UAVs were reportedly destroyed over the Kursk, Voronezh, and Krasnodar regions, as well as over Crimea, with one drone each in those areas.
The Russian authorities have not reported any casualties or damage resulting from the incidents.
