Azerbaijan-Armenia peace unlocks new opportunities for Middle Corridor, says EU official
António Costa, President of the European Council, has emphasized that the recent peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia opens up significant new opportunities for regional development and international trade.
His remarks came in an interview with Silk Way TV, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Costa highlighted that the April EU–Central Asia summit produced an agreement to accelerate the development of the Middle Corridor, a key international transport route. He stressed that the peaceful resolution between Baku and Yerevan further enhances the prospects for the corridor’s full operational potential.
“This opens up significant prospects for the full development of the Trans-Caspian route, connecting Asia and Europe and extending toward the Black Sea,” Costa said.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the Middle Corridor, serves as a strategic link between China and European countries, traversing Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye.
