Samarkand to host Organization of Turkic States' summit

The summit of the Organization of Turkic States will be held on November 11 this year in Samarkand.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu made the announcement at the first session of the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan-Türkiye dialogue format in Tashkent, Report says.

"Uzbekistan will chair the Organization of Turkic States for the first time. We believe that the Samarkand summit will open a new page in cooperation between our countries," he said.

Cavusoglu said relations between Ankara and Tashkent are of large-scale strategic partnership and Türkiye's dialogue with Azerbaijan is at the level of the alliance.

Touching upon economic cooperation, the Turkish Foreign Minister said that there was a growth in trade turnover with Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

"At the end of 2021, trade turnover with Azerbaijan reached $5 billion and with Uzbekistan - $3.6 billion. Ankara aims to further increase these figures to the level of $10 billion set by the leaders of our countries," he stressed.

Turkish diplomat noted that Türkiye eyes to further develop ties with Turkic states on the basis of mutual benefit and respect for interests.
