SBS: No change in Nakhchivan section of Iranian-Azerbaijani border
The State Border Service (SBS) has commented on the information on the illegal changes on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border towards the Arabengidje village, Sharur district, Nakhchivan AR.
Press service of the State Border Service told APA that the state border line and border regime between Azerbaijan and Iran were established in accord with the Agreement on Settlement of Border and Financial Issues between the USSR and Iran dated December 2, 1954, and its 1957 Supplement, and maps for marking and update of the borderline, as well as the Treaty on Border Regime and Border Conflict and Incident Management, dated May 14, 1957.
It is noted that the line of the state border between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran is in full compliance with the aforementioned documents and there have been no changes in the line of the border.
It should be noted that according to the disseminated information, 21 hectares of land were included in the territories of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a result of the illegal changes made to the borderline. It is also mentioned that the former Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Vasif Talibov, sold 21 hectares of land to Iran.
