"Sleep well, Great Ship!" "Governor" of Sevastopol on ‘Moskva’ vessel
The "Governor" of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said the sunken ‘Moskva’ missile cruiser was of great importance and symbolic meaning for the residents of the city.
“Of course, we are all in pain today,” the politician wrote on his Telegram channel.
“For Sevastopol, the cruiser was a real symbol. And of course, we all hurt today. Sleep well, Great ship!”, wrote the politician.
"Governor" accompanied the post with a photo of the 2008 cruiser. The footage shows how a ship entering the port of Sevastopol is met with Russian flags on the shore and on small ships.
On April 14, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported that ammunition detonated on the Moskva missile cruiser of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet after a fire. The ship was seriously damaged. Subsequently, it sank while being towed in a storm.
‘Moskva’ is a Russian guards missile cruiser, the lead ship of 1164 ‘Atlant’ project. After the decommissioning of the project 1123 anti-submarine cruiser ‘Moskva’, it inherited his name, becoming the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet.
