SOCAR opens first hydrogen filling station in Switzerland
SOCAR Energy opened the first hydrogen filling station on Swiss highways on June 9, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Switzerland Fuad Iskenderov wrote on his Twitter page.
"I was happy to participate in the opening of the first hydrogen terminal at the SOCAR petrol stations in Switzerland. I am proud that the first energy innovation - hydrogen, on motorways of the most innovative country in the world was provided by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan. Joint work of Azerbaijan and Switzerland for the sake of a clean future starts now!" the ambassador wrote, Trend reported on June 9.
This point was opened at a SOCAR petrol station near the city of Bern, on the highway connecting major cities of Switzerland.
The ceremony was attended by the General Director of SOCAR Energy, Edgar Bachmann, officials from the Swiss Federal Government and the Canton of Bern, representatives of the Swiss business community, and the media.
Ambassador Fuad Iskenderov welcomed the guests at the official part of the ceremony. In his speech, he informed of Azerbaijan's initiatives in the field of green transition, including Azerbaijan's contribution to the energy security of Europe and the supply of green energy to Europe.
The ambassador also spoke about Azerbaijan's successful development path over the past 30 years as a result of the visionary activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev in all areas and shared his views on the positive impact of Azerbaijan's achievements in other countries.
Later, in the presence of the ambassador, Mr. Bachmann, and members of the federal and local governments, a red ribbon was cut to mark the opening of the first hydrogen filling station, and a tour of the area was held.
