St. Petersburg residents urged to stay indoors during major drone attack
Authorities in Russia's second-largest city, St. Petersburg, urged residents to remain indoors on June 6 after the city came under what officials described as a large-scale drone attack.
Governor Alexander Beglov said air defence systems were actively responding to the threat and warned that mobile internet services could be disrupted as security measures remained in place, Caliber.Az reports.
"On the morning of June 6, St. Petersburg came under a large-scale attack by military drones. Air defense systems are active," Beglov said in a statement posted on social media.
Acting on recommendations from the regional Operational Headquarters, the governor called on residents to stay inside their homes and avoid going outdoors until the situation stabilises.
