Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, has embarked on his first foreign trip since assuming the position, travelling to Iraq.
The visit's main goal is the signing of a bilateral Iran–Iraq security agreement, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.
Speaking before leaving Tehran, Larijani emphasised, “Iran’s approach to relations with its neighbours is that the security of Iranians is the main priority, while also giving due attention to the security of its neighbours.”
He also announced that his trip will include a visit to Lebanon.
