Turkish diplomat: Armenia’s chances of joining NATO extremely low

Türkiye’s former representative to the alliance, Onur Öymen, told RIA Novosti that Armenia’s chances of joining the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) are extremely low due to the possible veto of Türkiye and some other countries.

Earlier on Monday, Günther Fehlinger, head of the non-profit non-governmental organization “European NATO Enlargement Committee”, called on Armenia to join the North Atlantic Alliance, Lenta.ru reports.

Commenting on this call, Öymen said, “Armenia will need to make many changes. In my opinion, such an issue cannot be on the NATO agenda under the current global and regional conditions.”
