ASTRA: Russian defence electronics plant hit again in drone attack PHOTO
A defence industry facility in Russia's Chuvash Republic was struck in a new drone attack on June 10, with a fire breaking out at the site, according to open-source intelligence analysis by ASTRA.
The targeted enterprise, VNIIR-Progress, is located in the city of Cheboksary and has previously been linked to the production of military electronics used by the Russian armed forces, Caliber.Az reports.
ASTRA said eyewitness footage from the scene showed a fire at the facility. The outlet's OSINT analysts identified the plant's administrative building in the videos and noted that extensive protective measures had been installed following earlier attacks, including netting stretched across the site and metal support structures erected around the complex.
The facility was previously targeted twice on May 5, according to ASTRA.
VNIIR-Progress is known for producing "Kometa" antennas, which are designed to help Russian military drones resist Ukrainian electronic warfare systems. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the company also manufactures satellite navigation receivers and antennas compatible with the GLONASS, GPS, and Galileo systems.
Ukrainian military officials have further alleged that the plant produces Kometa modules used in Shahed-type attack drones, as well as components for Iskander-M and Calibre missile systems and guidance modules for aerial bombs.
