Turkish FM hails Türkiye's solid ties with Turkmenistan

11 October 2023 17:48

Extremely strong and solid ties have been established between Turkmenistan and Türkiye, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said at a meeting with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov in Ashgabat, Anadolu reports.

Fidan expressed satisfaction with his stay in Turkmenistan together with the Turkish delegation.

The foreign minister said important strategic issues were touched upon in his morning meeting with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

"We listened to his peaceful vision for the development of Turkmenistan and our region as a whole," Fidan said.

The Turkish minister recalled that the leaders of Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Turkmenistan met in December 2022.

"Turkmenistan and Türkiye have extremely strong and robust bilateral ties. We aim to promote this, institutionalise this process and also open new areas of our interaction," Fidan said.

The minister noted that Türkiye and Turkmenistan are two states that "act in the spirit of one nation and two states and have unshakable strong ties."

"I believe that the cooperation, work and professionalism that the two countries will demonstrate in the modern period will further strengthen the brotherly ties that already exist between us," Fidan emphasised.

In turn, Foreign Minister Meredov congratulated the Republic of Türkiye on its 100th anniversary.

Following the meeting, Fidan and Meredov signed the "Programme of Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan for 2024-2025".
