Turkish intelligence brings particularly dangerous terrorist to country

The Turkish National Intelligence Organisation has brought one of the functionaries of the Fethullah Gülen Terrorist Organization (FETO), Ugur Demirok, to the country on November 12.

Demirok was arrested by a court decision, according to Anadolu Agency.

He was charged with "creating and leading an armed terrorist organization".

According to Turkish law enforcement sources, Demirok fled abroad shortly after the failed coup attempt in Türkiye on July 15, 2016.

Demirok was found to be active in the terror group's covert structure in the Turkish military and was also a user of the ByLock program, through which Gülen supporters kept secret correspondence.

FETO and its US-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the 2016 defeated coup in Türkiye in which 251 people were killed and 2,734 wounded. Ankara also accuses FETO of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
