Turkish Parliament to address Western Azerbaijan's historical plight
A meeting convened in the Western Azerbaijan Community welcomed a delegation led by Mahmud Ozer, Chair of the National Commission on Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye.
The Community told Caliber.Az that during the gathering, Community chairman and MP Aziz Alakbarli recounted the adversities faced by Azerbaijanis over the past two centuries, stressing the repeated displacement of Azerbaijanis from their ancestral lands in Western Azerbaijan.
Aziz Alakbarli noted that during the last deportation in 1987-1991, more than 300 thousand Azerbaijanis were forcibly expelled from their homeland, but now they have united in the Western Azerbaijan Community to return to their native lands peacefully, safely and honourably.
Mahmud Ozer pledged to raise the Western Azerbaijan issue in the Turkish Parliament and collaborate on publishing a book in Azerbaijani, Turkish, and English languages, shedding light on the region's history.
