Turkish police nab suspects in Istanbul church attack

Seventeen members of the ISIS terrorist organisation have been arrested in Istanbul on suspicion of involvement in the Santa Maria church attack.

According to TRT Haber, ISIL's plans to attack synagogues and churches in Türkiye and the Iraqi embassy were prevented, the suspects were detained and digital material belonging to the organisation was seized as a result of the work carried out by the National Intelligence Organisation MİT in coordination with the General Directorate of Security.

On January 28, an armed attack took place in the Sariyer district of Istanbul during a service in the church of Santa Maria. Two masked men entered the church with guns and killed one person.
