Turkish president backs Gaza truce, calls for Arab unity on Palestinian statehood
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emphasized the critical importance of preserving the fragile ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, describing it as the product of arduous diplomatic efforts.
His remarks came during a meeting in Ankara with the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
“President Erdoğan underscored the exceptional importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza, which was achieved with great difficulty,” read a statement from the Turkish Presidential Office.
He reiterated that the realization of a two-state solution remains an indispensable condition for lasting peace in the region, adding that unity among Islamic nations on this issue is more vital than ever.
The two leaders also discussed the ongoing crisis in Syria. Erdoğan reaffirmed Türkiye’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Syria’s political unity and territorial integrity, stressing Ankara’s desire to work jointly with fellow Arab states to help shape a brighter future for the Syrian people.
Turning to bilateral relations, Erdoğan highlighted the strategic significance of Turkish-Kuwaiti cooperation across several key sectors — including investment, energy, trade, and the defence industry. He noted that this partnership not only serves mutual interests but also holds substantial potential for deeper, long-term development.
