Turkish, Russian leaders unite efforts to tackle food crisis in "underdeveloped" states

24 October 2022 10:55

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin are jointly working to eliminate the food crisis in "underdeveloped" countries and want to supply them not only with grain but also with fertilizers.

"During our last meeting with Mr Putin [in Astana, Kazakhstan], we took steps [to find out] what we can give to underdeveloped or undeveloped countries, especially African countries, except, of course, for grain. What could it be? Fertilizers. Because in countries with severe drought, it is also necessary to eliminate the shortage of fertilizers," Erdogan said in Diyarbakir on October 23, according to TRT Haber.

Erdogan hopes that this issue could be resolved at the next meeting with the Russian president.
