Türkiye brings back 10 fugitives from Europe and Russia
As a result of joint efforts by Turkish law enforcement and international agencies, 10 wanted individuals have been brought back to Türkiye, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on X, per Caliber.Az.
Among them are 9 individuals wanted via Interpol “Red Notices” and 1 wanted under a national warrant. Three of the detainees were repatriated from Germany, two each from Georgia and Russia, and one each from Belgium and Bulgaria.
The operation was coordinated by the Interpol-Europol Department of the General Directorate of Police, with the involvement of the Ministry of Justice, as well as units specialising in organised crime, narcotics, cybercrime, intelligence, and public security.
“We carefully tracked the whereabouts of individuals who had fled abroad and were wanted, as part of joint operational activities with law enforcement authorities of the relevant countries,” Yerlikaya emphasised.
In a previous such operation, Türkiye brought back three fugitives wanted under Interpol “red notices” from Germany, Montenegro, and Kazakhstan.
They were wanted for drug trafficking or supplying narcotics/stimulants, robbery committed by more than one person, and attempted premeditated murder.
