Türkiye confirms no cases of monkeypox in Istanbul

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has denied the information which has gone viral about four people allegedly being infected with monkeypox in Istanbul.
“Four people in Istanbul have been tested. The test results are negative. Thus, there are no cases of monkeypox infection in Türkiye today,” TASS reports, referring to Koca’s message on Twitter.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has received reports about more than 550 confirmed cases of monkeypox in 30 countries outside of Africa, where the virus is said to originate, as of June 1, 2022.
