Türkiye expands Songar combat drone export market VIDEO
Türkiye is expanding its export market for Songar armed drones developed by Asisguard.
Mustafa Barış Düzgün, CEO of Asisguard, told Anadolu Agency that the Songar unmanned aerial vehicle, along with a light machine gun, will be able to fire mini-missiles at the enemy.
Düzgün said that after using Songar in real conditions "on the ground," Songar was upgraded based on the wishes and recommendations of the security forces.
"We integrated the MPT-55 rifle and Sarsılmaz pistol into the drone system. The Songar UAV meets all NATO standards, using 5.56 mm ammunition. That means we can use the drone in all countries that have 5.45 mm caliber weapons in their armies," he said.
The defence chief said work continues on various configurations of the Songar. "For example, together with Aktaş Silah, we successfully integrated a 40-mm grenade launcher into the drone, and through cooperation with Troy Teknoloji, the quadcopter received a six missile launching system and a smoke bomb-dropping system for dispersing illegal actions. In addition, in cooperation with TÜBİTAK SAGE specialists, an 81mm Togan mini bomb was successfully integrated into the UAV. Our goal is to make a single, maximally functional drone, rather than striving to develop drone modifications for every single type of munition," Düzgün said.
He also pointed out that the Songar drone is also equipped with a night vision system.
