Türkiye launches national electric car production
Türkiye has started production of a national car, the prototype of which was presented by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan back in 2019.
The first example of the electric car of the Turkish TOGG brand rolled off the assembly line of a newly built plant in Gemlik, a city south of Istanbul, according to Motor.ru.
The successful assembly of the "first-born", during which the workers checked the production processes, was announced by the general director of the brand TOGG CEO Gurcan Karakas.
The TOGG plan reads that production will be fully established by early November and "mothballed" in this form.
At the end of the first quarter of 2023, a market debut is planned: the electric crossover will be the first to go on sale. Before that, it has yet to pass certification tests for compliance with European standards, because the car is planned to be sold outside of Türkiye.
Two modifications will be applied to the SUV version of the car: with a 200-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle or with two engines - one for each axle. In the second case, the output of the installation will be about 400 forces. The most powerful version will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km per hour in 4.8 seconds, and the maximum travel time will be about 500 km. Probably, a similar "stuffing" will be in the sedan.
