Türkiye major global player – Georgian premier
Over the past 100 years, Türkiye has become one of the main political and economic players both regionally and globally.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said at a reception organized by the Turkish Embassy in Tbilisi to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic, Anadolu reports.
The reception was also attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Tbilisi Ali Kaan Orbay, Georgian ministers, members of parliament, diplomats, representatives of Turkish institutions in Georgia, religious figures, Turkish businessmen and other guests.
Speaking at the event, the Georgian prime minister called Türkiye a modern country.
“Since its founding, this great country and nation has faced many challenges on its way to becoming a modern, industrialized and developed nation,” he said.
Garibashvili noted that Türkiye is one of the most important countries both in the regional and international arena.
“Over the past 100 years, Türkiye has become one of the main political and economic players both regionally and globally,” he emphasized.
Touching upon the topic of bilateral interaction between Türkiye and Georgia, Garibashvili expressed satisfaction that both countries share unique ties of friendship and brotherhood.
“Our countries continued cooperation, which gradually grew into a strong strategic partnership,” the Georgian prime minister said.
Garibashvili recalled that Türkiye is Georgia’s largest trading partner.
“We expect that by the end of the year, the annual trade volume between the two countries will reach 3 billion dollars,” the prime minister noted.
According to him, over 10,000 Turkish companies operate in Georgia. In just three years, the volume of direct Turkish investments in Georgia has reached $370 million, Garibashvili indicated.
Türkiye and Georgia are also closely cooperating on the implementation of energy and infrastructure projects connecting Asia and Europe, the prime minister added.
