Türkiye neutralizes key PKK/YPG figure in Syria operation
Türkiye's National Intelligence Organisation (MİT) has successfully neutralized Metin Dinç, a key figure within the PKK/YPG terrorist organization, following a targeted operation in northern Syria.
Dinç, who was operating under the code name “Dijvar Tekosin,” was neutralized in the Kamışlı district, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.
Dinç, who had been serving a prison sentence in Türkiye from 2008 to 2015 for offences including membership in an armed terrorist organization and organizing illegal demonstrations, was found to have entered Syria illegally in 2015. Upon his arrival in Syria, he joined PKK/YPG and was involved in orchestrating attacks against security forces.
The operation that led to Dinç’s neutralization was executed based on intelligence gathered by MİT field agents, who tracked his location and identified him as a significant threat. The successful neutralization of Dinç represents a significant blow to the PKK/YPG operations in the region.
