Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov in Ankara on October 26.
According to TRT Haber, 13 different cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries.
The two leaders addressed a joint press conference after the agreements were reached.
"Turkmenistan is one of the most important countries in the world in terms of energy resources. Türkiye is the first country to recognise Turkmenistan's independence. Türkiye has supported its Turkmen brothers since independence and will continue to do so," Erdogan said.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued his speech:
"President Erdogan and I discussed the issues of transporting Turkmen natural gas and electricity to Türkiye via the Caspian Sea. We confirmed that deepening close cooperation in the transit sphere is important for the development of trade between the two countries. In this context, we stated that it is in mutual interests to create new directions of the existing transport corridors, especially in increasing the efficiency of the Caspian and Black Sea corridors."
Berdimuhamedov said it was agreed to take necessary measures to ensure more effective joint work in the transport sector, while issues related to the development of cooperation in various industrial fields were assessed.
He said the talks between Turkmenistan and Türkiye resulted in the signing of important documents that will contribute to the development of cooperation in political, trade and economic fields.
