Ukraine's armed forces warn of Russia's advances in Donetsk as evacuation efforts continue
Russian troops are continuing to push towards cities cities in Donetsk within their eastern offensive, with Ukrainian authorities performing a recent wave of evacuations.
On January 12, as Caliber.Az reports, Ukraine's Governor Vadym Filashkin of the Donetsk Oblast announced that 132 people, including 12 children, were evacuated from the front-line area of Donetsk Oblast during the past day.
Russian forces shelled Donetsk Oblast 20 times on Janary 11, killing one person, injuring seven others, and damaging over 60 houses, according to Filashkin.
According to Ukrainian officials, around 307,000 civilians remain in the Ukrainian-controlled parts of Donetsk despite repeated shelling and calls to evacuate.
In their daily updates, Ukraine's General Staff records that Russia's offensive on the East of Ukraine continues along the Lyman, Siversk, Kramatorsk, Toretsk, Pokrovsk and Kurakhove axes, now in its fifth month. According to their latest figures, Russia has apparently lost 808,250 troops in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, including 1,750 casualties incurred just over the past day.
