Ukraine: Zaporizhzhia residents restoring destroyed facilities
Residents of Zaporizhzhia have mobilized all efforts to eliminate the consequences of the attacks of the Russian troops.
Following the August 9 attack of the Russian armed forces on one of the quarters of Shevchenko District, a large number of shops and the market were damaged. Three people became victims of the shelling, and one of the temples was destroyed.
Employees of the Ukrainian police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations were involved in the scene. Residents of Zaporizhzhia also took part in the removal of the rubble.
A film crew of Anadolu traveled to the region, where they filmed the reconstruction and destruction after the attack. In a conversation with Anadolu, clergyman Vasily said that one of the rockets exploded near the church.
“The blast wave destroyed the temple and nearby buildings. The Lord saved people's lives. There was no one inside the temple either. If this rocket fell directly on the nearest market, many people would have died, not 3 people,” said Vasily.
At the same time, the clergyman expressed the hope that the church would be restored with the support of the townspeople.
“The residents of the city were very upset because of the church. Some of them come and help sort out the rubble. I hope that we will restore the church after we raise funds,” said Vasily.
In his words, with the outbreak of hostilities, many people left the city.
“Our youth is fighting. Men at war, many women provide medical care at the front. Some left the city because of the fighting. There are many old people here. The situation is not very good,” said Vasily.
On August 9, Ukraine reported that the Russian armed forces launched a strike on the city of Zaporizhzhia, as a result of which, 3 people were killed and 9 more were injured.
