Ukrainian FM Sybiha, EU's Kallas coordinate security, economic support efforts
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas have held talks on coordinating security and economic support for Ukraine, while also discussing wider geopolitical challenges, including the Middle East.
Writing on X, Sybiha described the exchange as “a very good call” aimed at aligning upcoming diplomatic engagements and maintaining unity on key European decisions.
“A very good call with my friend and colleague Kaja Kallas to coordinate our upcoming engagements in order to keep our joint efforts aligned in the weeks ahead.”
He said the discussions covered the European agenda and the need to sustain momentum on decisions aimed at strengthening collective security and resilience.
Sybiha also raised the importance of continued financial assistance for Kyiv, including efforts to unlock a €90bn loan package, which he said was essential for Ukraine’s defence and Europe’s broader security posture amid Russia’s war.
“I stressed the importance of unblocking €90 billion loan to ensure continued support for Ukraine and protection of Europe from the Russian threat.”
The two officials additionally exchanged views on political developments in Hungary and their potential implications for EU cohesion and strategic strength.
