Ukrainian opposition files resolution calling for dismissals of top officials
Ukraine’s opposition party, European Solidarity, has submitted resolution No. 14234 to parliament, calling for the dismissal of National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak.
According to Verkhovna Rada official Iryna Gerashchenko, the resolution is a response to the large-scale corruption scandal linked to the so-called “Mindich tapes” and demands political accountability from all officials implicated, Caliber.Az reports.
The document also urges parliament to demand the immediate dismissal of the head of the State Financial Monitoring Service, F. Pronin, as well as the heads of supervisory boards of all state-owned enterprises and other officials involved in the scandal.
The current whereabouts of Umerov and Yermak remain unknown.
The resolution follows revelations by Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) of a major corruption scheme at the state-owned nuclear company Energoatom, known as “Midas.”
The scheme was allegedly orchestrated by businessman Timur Mindich, co-owner of “Kvartal-95” and a former associate of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Prosecutors say Mindich exerted influence over former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and former Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.
The European Commission has highlighted the exposure of the scheme as a demonstration of the effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions, noting it as a key step toward transparency and accountability in state enterprises.
