Media: Ukrainian president decides to run for second term
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has decided to run for a second presidential term.
"Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already made the decision to seek a second term, although he has not publicly confirmed it yet," an unnamed source close to the Ukrainian leader said, Caliber.Az reports via Ukrainian media.
Zelenskyy plans to run for re-election on the condition that former Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief and Ambassador to the UK, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, does not announce his candidacy in the election.
With a trust rating of 52 per cent, Zelenskyy still has a strong chance of winning the presidential election if former Commander-in-Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi does not run.
Zaluzhnyi is currently seen as the main competitor to the incumbent president, and is occasionally cited as the leader in trust ratings among Ukrainians, despite now serving as Ukraine’s ambassador to the UK.
