US foreign aid spendings entail projects across Azerbaijan

Often information on projects that are funded by American taxpayers through various US departments and agencies, including USAID, is ambigious.  

Information on these projects, including those carried out in Azerbaijan, can be obtained from the Data Republican website.

According to the website's data, the United States has allocated $17 million for programs in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and neighboring countries in areas such as animal disease control, educational support, business development, and improving children's mental health.

Following is a list of some of these grants: 

US Department of Defense

Monitoring brucellosis in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye (Northern Arizona University, $2,992,256, until September 22, 2025).

Surveillance of infectious diseases in Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia (National Food Agency, $2,998,810, until August 17, 2025).

Supporting the fight against brucellosis in Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan (FAO, $3,396,534, until March 14, 2027).

US Department of State

Landmine clearance and humanitarian initiatives in Azerbaijan (MAG America Inc, $2 million, until March 31, 2025).

Educational initiatives in the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe (American Councils for International Education, $1.61 million, until March 31, 2025).

Supporting SAEG's goal to strengthen ties between US and Azerbaijani universities (American Councils for International Education, $24,592, until June 30, 2025).

Women's entrepreneurship project in Baku and Azerbaijani regions ($100,000).
US-Azerbaijan expert exchange program ($20,000).

US Department of State

Student exchange program for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia in the US ($425,000).

USAID

Maternal, child health, and social services project in Azerbaijan (UNICEF, $2 million, until October 1, 2026).

US Department of Health and Human Services

Project to improve mental health for children from low-income families in Azerbaijan ($728,000, until February 28, 2029).
