US sanctions overseas entities backing Iran’s missile, drone programs
On November 13, the United States imposed sanctions on individuals and entities in multiple countries for supporting Iran’s ballistic missile and drone programs, in another effort to pressure Tehran.
The measures target 32 individuals and entities based in Iran, Türkiye, Ukraine, and other countries that operate extensive procurement networks supplying components for Iran’s weapons development, Caliber.Az reports, citing the US Department of the Treasury.
“These networks pose a threat to U.S. and allied personnel in the Middle East and to commercial shipping in the Red Sea,” the Treasury Department said in a statement.
Washington, along with its European allies and Israel, has long accused Tehran of using its nuclear program as a cover for weapons development. Iran denies the allegations, insisting that its nuclear activities are for peaceful purposes.
