US special envoy: Ukraine-Russia talks show "meaningful progress" PHOTO
Stephen Witkoff, Special Presidential Envoy of the United States, said the trilateral talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia in Geneva on February 17 had made "meaningful progress."
Speaking on X, Witkoff said the discussions were moderated by the United States at President Trump’s direction and thanked the Swiss Confederation for hosting the meetings.
“President Trump’s success in bringing both sides of this war together has brought about meaningful progress, and we are proud to work under his leadership to stop the killing in this terrible conflict,” he added.
Witkoff said both parties agreed to update their respective leaders and continue working toward a potential deal.

Ukrainian and Russian negotiators concluded the first day of US-mediated peace talks in Geneva, which were described as “very tense,” with no clear progress toward ending the nearly four-year war.
The six-hour session will resume on February 18. Previous talks in Abu Dhabi failed to produce a breakthrough, with territorial disputes remaining unresolved.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was ready to move quickly toward a meaningful peace agreement but questioned Russia’s commitment, citing ongoing missile strikes over genuine diplomacy.
