During the visit, Vance became the first sitting US Vice President (or president) to visit Armenia, meeting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, advancing bilateral ties, and signing agreements on civil nuclear cooperation and defence technology.
He then continued to Azerbaijan, arriving in Baku to meet President Ilham Aliyev and sign a Strategic Partnership Charter focused on economic, security, energy, and technology cooperation.
Both visits formed part of a broader US diplomatic effort to consolidate the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and promote the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) corridor project.
