USAID seeks to unleash a war with Azerbaijan Namely Samantha, Vardanyan's accomplice
Amidst growing anti-Azerbaijani sentiments in Washington, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power made another tearful and subdued tweet about Karabakh Armenians today, on November 21.
"Two months ago, Azerbaijan’s military operation in Nagorno-Karabakh forced more than 100k people to leave their homes & move into neighbouring Armenia. The U.S. continues to stand with the ethnic Armenians from NK.
Today, the U.S. is announcing an additional $4 million to help these displaced people. We’re grateful for the Armenian Government’s generous reception of the displaced & will continue to support them in getting people the help they need.
With this new funding, USAID partners, the World Food Programme, the International Federation of Red Cross and 'People In Need, Inc. are providing urgently needed humanitarian aid like food assistance, humanitarian protection & emergency shelter to >70k people. US humanitarian assistance for the NK response now totals $28M since 2020.
On my recent visit to Armenia, I got to hear directly from many of the displaced people from NK about the tremendous hardship, and heartbreak, of having to flee their homes. We will continue to do all we can to support them and those generously hosting them in Armenia,” Power wrote.
It is striking that the US thanks Armenia for hosting Armenian citizens. However, such an approach in Samantha's case is not new to us. She is so excited about Armenian issues that in order to prove that she is "of the same blood" with them, she took an extraordinary step. Power planned her pregnancy in such a way that she would definitely give birth to her son Diklan on April 24 - a sacred date for her “wards”.
Caliber.Az already reported that the former “minister of state” of the Karabakh junta Ruben Vardanyan is now actively testifying to Azerbaijani investigative authorities, including regarding his numerous “trusted contacts” abroad. And Samantha Power's name is on this list. The Azerbaijani side knows the details of very close contacts between the USAID chief and Ruben Vardanyan. This smacks not just of a corruption scandal that could bury Power's career, but of a deliberate betrayal of national interests.
It is symbolic that Samantha Power learned the news about the arrest of Ruben Vardanyan while in Baku.
To recall, Power is also a member of the Aurora Prize committee, the initiator and sponsor of which is Ruben Vardanyan.
And finally, let’s once again touch upon the American “equidistance and impartiality.” As Power herself said during her September visit to Armenia and Azerbaijan, her goal is humanitarian issues and assistance. In Armenia, she met with representatives of the Karabakh Armenians, but while in Baku she completely ignored the Azerbaijani refugees and internally displaced persons.
Well, if the head of USAID is not interested in the people affected by the conflict in Azerbaijan, what is it that attracts this organisation so much? As our colleagues from Report.az have already written today, USAID has implemented projects worth millions of US dollars in Azerbaijan. Some of its projects are synchronised with those implemented by the European Union. One of these projects is "Training and Activation of Youth in the Regions".
The official aim of the project is "to increase the media literacy of 13-18-year-olds and ensure that their time outside of school is used effectively". But a closer look at this project reveals attempts to mobilise children, to educate them for special interests. But during the Second Karabakh War, when civilians in Ganja, Tartar, Barda and other towns and villages of our country were subjected to rocket attacks, we did not hear outrage like USAID.
What is the purpose of "training" teenagers in the regions around Karabakh? The fact that the trainings are designed specifically for youth in the regions around Karabakh reveals the main intention of the project's authors by itself. Are "feminists", "youth" and other similar social groups of interest to USAID? Does this remind you of something? Yes. Serbia, Ukraine, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan. The same fate is being prepared for Azerbaijan? Perhaps. But is it possible for us to be proactive and nip the threats emanating from this organisation in advance?
