USS Forrest Sherman destroyer arrives in Türkiye

The USS Forrest Sherman-class destroyer arrived in the Aksaz Naval Base in southwestern Türkiye on July 31.

The destroyer, which carries Tomahawk cruise missiles, is the flagship of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG-2), Interfax reports with reference to the US sixth operational fleet.

The group, operating in the Mediterranean Sea, consists of frigates from the Turkish, Italian, and Greek navies.

According to the latest information, a US Navy carrier strike group led by Harry Truman aircraft carrier is on duty in the Adriatic region, west of the Balkans.

Earlier, the US Navy EA-18 carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft made training flights from the USS Harry Truman aircraft carrier in Romania’s airspace.
