The practice has long been a hallmark of Japanese football supporters, who regularly clean their seating areas after major international tournaments, including World Cups and Asian Cups.
The tradition gained global attention during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, when Japanese fans cleaned stadium stands even after their team’s defeats. Since then, similar scenes have repeatedly been highlighted as an example of respect for stadiums and the environment.
Footage from Dallas has once again sparked positive reactions on social media, with users praising the fans’ culture of behavior.
After the 2026 FIFA World Cup match against the Netherlands, Japanese supporters remained in the stadium and cleaned up litter in their section, The Sun reported.
The Group F match, held in Dallas, United States, ended in a 2–2 draw.
