WSJ: Media mogul Rupert Murdoch may merge his News Corp and Fox Corp assets
Media mogul Rupet Murdoch is considering merging his Fox Corporation and News Corporation assets after the split.
According to the publication's sources, special committees have been created in both corporations, which should study the possibility of a merger, Gazeta.ru reports referring to the Wall Street Journal.
Moreover, if there is a merger, it will take place in the form of a deal with shares. However, other sources of the newspaper indicated that the merger will not take place, but that alternative solutions will be considered.
By the close of trading on October 14, the market value of Fox Corp. was nearly $17 billion, News Corp. - about $ 9 million. The companies themselves were divided against the backdrop of a scandal with wiretapping of politicians, in the centre of which was the British newspaper News of the World owned by Murdoch.
At the end of September, Bloomberg reported that former hedge fund manager Stephen Diggle, who made $2.7 billion on market fluctuations during the global financial crisis in 2008, is now actively buying up the depreciated British pound.
