Azerbaijani minister names planned volume of gas supplies to EU by yearend
Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov has announced plans to supply 11.5 billion cubic metres of gas to Europe under previously concluded contracts by late 2022.
The minister made the announcement on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week forum in Moscow on October 13, Trend reports.
Shahbazov noted that next year the volume of exports may remain the same or be slightly higher.
He also said that the capacity of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) could be doubled by 2027.
“There are plans to expand the Southern Gas Corridor. In practice, it can be doubled by 2027. In the direction of Türkiye, 16 billion cubic metres can be increased to 31 billion, and further along the Trans-Adriatic pipeline - from 10 billion to 20 billion cubic metres per year,” the minister said.
In the meantime, touching upon oil and gas condensate production in Azerbaijan, the energy minister pointed out that the volumes are expected to reach 34 million tonnes in 2022.
He noted that a similar volume is planned to be produced next year.
“Oil production in Azerbaijan is in a stable situation. We maintain a stable level of production through new wells,” Shahbazov added.
