US magazine Forbes has raised the issue of the conflict on F-16 fighter jets between the administrations of Ankara and Washington.
The ongoing dispute over F-16s has once again come to the fore over the words of a Turkophobic senator, according to Yeniakit.
While the US administration has taken action to approve the sale of F-16s to Türkiye, US Senator Bob Menendez said the US should consider Türkiye's threats to Greece and therefore deny the sales.
Because of the uncertainty of the F-16 process, Forbes magazine pointed out that Türkiye is one step away from an agreement with the UK.
The article notes that Ankara has an alternative to the F-16s on its agenda, which is the option of supplying British Eurofighter jets.
According to the magazine, the talks came after a $20 billion deal with the US for 40 upgraded Block 70 F-16 Viper aircraft and 79 Block 50 F-16 upgrade kits was threatened.
Stating that Türkiye always has the Eurofighter Typhoon option on the table against attempts by the anti-Turkish lobby in the US Congress, Forbes noted that the Turkish Air Force would welcome the purchase of 24-48 Eurofighter Typhoon fighters of the 4.5 generation.
The article says Britain is also interested in supplying Türkiye.
The agreement is worth more than $10 billion and also includes C-130J Hercules transport aircraft, Type 23 frigates and new engines for Türkiye's American-made M60 tanks.
