Armenia arrests officers fleeing battlefield during Karabakh war

Three Armenian officers have been arrested on charges of desertion during the 44-day Karabakh war, Caliber.Az reports with reference to Armenian media.

According to the Armenian Investigative Committee's materials, the deputy commander of the battalion, Major A.S. left the battlefield in southern Karabakh on October 2, 2020. Based on the evidence obtained, he was charged on November 21.

A similar offence was charged against the platoon commanders, Senior Lieutenants V.T. and R.G., who were operating in the same area and abandoned their official duties while performing a combat task. All three were detained after being charged and later arrested.
