NATO approves Azerbaijani-Romanian project

The international conference "Protection of Critical Infrastructures - 2024" was held at the Palace of Parliament in the Romanian capital within the framework of the Bucharest Digital Innovation Summit.

The conference was attended by Tural Mammadov, Head of the Department of the State Special Communication and Information Security Service (DSSCIS) of Azerbaijan, Azartac reports concerning the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security of Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the panel session "Preparing for emergencies in case of disruptions in energy infrastructures", Tural Mammadov spoke about the Critical Infrastructure Defence Challenge 2023 cyber festival held for the first time in Azerbaijan last year.

He brought to attention that to develop skills in defense of critical information systems against cyber-attacks and management of information systems under competitive conditions, the Cyber Warfare competition was held within the framework of the cyber festival.

Speaking about the usefulness of organizing such a competition for training teams responsible for information security in critical information infrastructures, T. Mammadov, along with technical training, noted the importance of Table Top Exercises for top-level managers in terms of making adequate and quick decisions in emergencies.

At the same time, T. Mammadov said that the joint Cyber Poligon project prepared by the State Special Communication and Information Security Service of Azerbaijan and the Romanian National Institute for Research and Development in the field of informatics to improve information security in critical energy infrastructures was approved by NATO's Science for Peace and Security program.

The head of the department added that the implementation of this project is designed for two years and will start in May this year.
