TotalEnergies: Second phase of Absheron gas field development kicks off

The second phase of developing the Absheron gas field in Azerbaijan’s sector of the Caspian Sea is now in the preparation stage, TotalEnergies Vice President Martina Opizzi stated.

She made the remarks at a press conference in Baku after the Southern Gas Corridor meetings, noting that production at the field is stable and provides a reliable foundation for further project expansion, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Oppizi explained that the second phase, referred to as the “Full Field Development,” consists of two components: “The first component involves constructing subsea infrastructure to connect three wells to a 114-kilometre multiphase offshore pipeline, while the second entails building an onshore processing complex to supply gas to domestic and international markets.”

She emphasised that the project applies modern technological solutions designed to reduce costs and minimise emissions, aligning with sustainable development principles.
