The agreement was signed by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee, and Ambassador Hafiz Pashayev, Rector of ADA University, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The three-year MoU, which can be extended by mutual agreement, aims to expand academic partnerships and foster knowledge exchange through conferences, exhibitions, seminars, scientific meetings, training programmes, masterclasses, and the design of academic courses. The collaboration will be a key part of the Thirteenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), scheduled to take place in Baku from May17–22, 2026.
According to the agreement, measures will be taken to ensure active participation from both local and international academic staff during the forum. The partnership also highlights the longstanding cooperation between ADA University and the State Committee, which has been further strengthened with the recent establishment of the Faculty of Design and Architecture at the Italy-Azerbaijan University, a constituent of ADA University.
The new faculty is expected to contribute significantly to improving the quality of Azerbaijan’s urban environment and training skilled professionals in modern architecture, urban planning, and design.
The MoU aligns with President Ilham Aliyev’s Decree No. 858, which declared 2026 as the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture” in Azerbaijan, underlining the strategic importance of advancing urban development and architectural expertise in the country.
Through this collaboration, Azerbaijan aims to enhance its scientific potential, apply international best practices in urban planning, and strengthen its presence in global urban development platforms.
