ADB eyes deeper energy cooperation with Azerbaijan, says country director
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is seeking closer cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, Sunnia Durrani-Jamal, the ADB Country Director for Azerbaijan, said at the 31st Baku Energy Forum.
According to Durrani-Jamal, the ADB is a highly committed long-term partner of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
"We have already invested in renewable energy through the private sector and hope to work more actively with the Ministry of Energy. We are focused on modernising the thermal sector through strategic planning, regulatory reforms and institutional strengthening,” she said.
She also said that the modernisation and digital transformation of Azerbaijan’s electricity distribution systems is important.
“Smarter grids are essential. The state cannot do this alone, so active participation from businesses — both domestically and across the region — is crucial,” Durrani-Jamal added.
