AI to reshape public services and economic growth in Azerbaijan Google Cloud executive says
Artificial intelligence will reshape the nature of public services in Azerbaijan, Marina Zhunich, Head of Government Affairs for the Caucasus, Central Asia, South Africa, and Israel at Google Cloud, said.
Speaking on the second day of the StrategEast 2025 Eurasian Forum on State and IT in Baku, she noted that the process has already begun and could mark a major turning point for Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Zhunich added that to make better use of AI’s potential, governments should accelerate the digitisation of open databases.
“This approach has a direct impact on the economy and could be important for Azerbaijan's digital development strategy. This model could accelerate economic growth, particularly in the financial sector, by at least 33%. The use of AI allows for improved services in the judicial system and public administration in just weeks, not months, creating revolutionary changes in the public sector,” she said.
The Google Cloud representative emphasised that Azerbaijan could also become one of the region’s leaders in AI and digital governance, but this would require enhancing open data policies and regulatory mechanisms.
“The integration of AI into Azerbaijan's public sector will increase citizen satisfaction and ensure the flexibility and transparency of services. This could be a key step in the country's digital transformation agenda,” she concluded.
Zhunich further highlighted that successfully integrating artificial intelligence into Azerbaijan’s public administration system will depend on updating and adapting the country’s legal and regulatory framework.
She underlined that the effective use of AI in governance requires stronger regulatory mechanisms and harmonised legislation, while also stressing the need for national digital skills programmes to ensure sustainable and tangible progress in Azerbaijan’s digital transformation.
