Ambassador Deek hails issuance of licenses for exploration in Israeli waters
Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan George Deek has shared a post on social network X regarding some companies receiving licenses for exploration of Block 1 in Israel's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
“Good news for the Israeli natural gas industry: Energy companies SOCAR [Azerbaijan], BP [United Kingdom] and New-Med [Israel] have received licenses to explore for natural gas in Israeli waters as part of the fourth competitive process. The ceremony was attended by Energy and Infrastructure Minister Eli Cohen and SOCAR Chairman and Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov,” Caliber.Az quotes the ambassador as saying in a post on his X page.
For the record, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov, and SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf visited Israel for a ceremony where new exploration licenses were presented for Block 1 in Israel's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The licenses are seen as pivotal for strengthening SOCAR's international position and utilizing innovative experiences in energy development.
Jabbarov highlighted that the newly granted licenses for Block 1 offer significant advantages for SOCAR, enhancing its international standing and contributing to the long-term development of energy resources in the region.
Minister Jabbarov shared details of the event on his X page, emphasising the strategic value of this partnership in strengthening Azerbaijan's energy influence and leveraging innovative technologies.
During the visit, Jabbarov also met with Israel’s Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen, to discuss ways to enhance energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel. The meeting focused on exploring joint initiatives and projects aimed at bolstering economic ties and advancing energy relations between the two countries.
