Annual European Islamophobia report presented at international conference in Baku

27 May 2025 17:32

At the international conference titled “Islamophobia in Focus: Unveiling Bias, Shattering Stigmas” held in Baku, the annual report on Islamophobia in Europe was presented, offering statistical data and factual insights into the current state of Islamophobia across the continent.

According to domestic media, the report was introduced by Professor Enes Bayraklı, head of the Department of International Relations and Political Science at the Turkish-German University, Caliber.Az reports.

Bayraklı explained that the report reflects the work of 33 prominent academic institutions and civil society activists from various European countries. First published in 2015, the Islamophobia in Europe report has become a vital resource for understanding the impact of Islamophobia on politics, media, employment, education, and the justice system.

“The report opens with an overview section in both the local and English languages. It includes a country-by-country profile offering key statistics related to Islamophobia. Each chapter begins with an introduction outlining major political developments and incidents that took place during the year in that country. It then examines manifestations of Islamophobia across different sectors such as politics, the legal system, employment, education, media, sports and physical activity, schools, and the Internet,” Bayraklı said.

He added that the report also contains a dedicated section profiling key individuals active within each country’s Islamophobia network. The concluding part highlights the role of civil society institutions and positive initiatives aimed at combating Islamophobia, along with policy recommendations.

Bayraklı noted that last year’s edition of the report is available for download on the official website: www.islamophobereport.com.
